Armadale

Utilising a former right-of-way at the rear of the property, a new studio was built in place of carparking and the garden was redesigned to create a connection between house, interim garden spaces and this well used home office space.

An outdoor dining space under the canopy of a living pergola was opened up, and meandering pathway beyond created a woodland walk, taking the eye through and outwards into the long view. Classically proportioned flagstones link side path, seating area and pathways beyond, taking the journey up to a stone seating area. A place to sit and contemplate the views back to the Italianate Victorian home, or out towards the refined form of the new studio. A place to wait while taking turns on the trampoline. Somewhere for the eye to sit when looking out from the living space in the studio.

With outlook Northwards to the main garden, as well as South to a well concealed and greenery covered storage area, the garden studio sits quietly and gently in this narrow space, tucked away but part of the action, nonetheless.
