A family home that has undergone a number of iterations under the design eye of Neil Architecture, we were tasked with redesigning garden spaces around a further renovation. With a striking new house façade and floating pavilion in the rear garden, the whole garden transformed with a sequence of landscape interventions.
Front garden and carport were resurfaced with interwoven elements of fine filetti paving and crazy paving and bold new concrete floating steps takes guests into the home. A wide side pathway previously for overflow parking became a sheltered garden space, a woodland walk and lush outlook for bedrooms.
In the rear garden, the pool and pergola beyond were refurbished, while the new pavilion creates an open, undercover living space floating in and amongst massing of feature trees, textural plants and climbers. Space for outdoor dining, lounging poolside, dog play and even a hidden basketball part court. A garden for all the senses and seasons and spaces for all the family to enjoy.
Various trees were retained, while further planting of some of these species as well as fastigiate Ginkgo and Crepe Myrtle makes for a changing experience of these spaces through the seasons. Bold textural forms of succulent and hardy plants and a mature Olive tree contrast with softer elements that drape, flow and lighten the spaces.
