Elsternwick

Opening up the access from the house to the garden via generous sliding doors and a broad deck that wraps around the house rear. Foliaged pergolas provide protection overhead in summer and allow in beautiful low Northern light in winter. The pool has been resurfaced and its shape reconfigured, with striking bluestone crazy paving surrounding and extending the poolside area. A timber pool fence meanders through a broad swathe of perennial planting, alongside evergreen plants to retain structure and foliage through winter. This sculptural element defines the garden and links the curvilinear pool and angled rear section of the house. Blues, silvers and purples blend well with the tones in the water and the various greys of paving, fences and pergola, highlighted by occasional pops of yellow. A garden for all seasons, with plenty of autumnal tones creating strong contrast.
