North Caulfield

With its distinctive mid-century modern aesthetic, this home has been well appointed internally in modernist style and the garden was designed to reflect this architectural heritage. Crazy paving of Wistow slate complements the yellow brickwork of the house. Plants are selected from a palette that ranges from arid, desert style vegetation, through to strong sculptural forms and softer whisps of grasses and draping foliage.

The pool was refurbished internally and new paving takes a meandering journey through the garden and in and out of the new steel fencing. Opening up an outdoor bar allowed vistas from the deck, out past the pool and into the far garden, extending the outlook and inviting journey outwards into lush lawn, a cantilevered concrete seating circle around the firepit, and sunken trampoline hidden amongst plantings.

Semi-tropical and sculptural forms of plants provide strong contrasts and visual delight when in the pool and spa, and these forms continue out into the broader garden swathes of planting.
