Designing a garden to sit on a raised podium alongside the new home by Powell & Glenn, the opportunity lay in creating a lush oasis at terrace level, surrounded by planting that softened the boundaries and created outlook as well as privacy.

Entering a garden foyer, the pathway steps up and through lush foliage into the terrace to the front door. Or coming around the front living spaces, stone clad steps take the visitor up under the pergola clad in organic branches casting beautiful shadows across the paving.

Crazy paving spills out at terrace level, with an eclectic collection of pots enabling feature and sculptural plants to be selectively placed to maximise the interest from inside. Beyond this, the railing creates a canvas for climbing plants and allows planting in the raised boundary beds to sprawl both inside and outwards to the pavement below.

From streetside, a selection of Olives, Magnolia and local Eucalypts for screening, and a palette of ornamental grasses, shrubs and draping vegetation create a band of greenery, softening the elevation and providing surprising depth in the greenery.
